ROOKS LOOK TO END SKID
AGAINST SAMBA
Host Salinas Friday Night at University
Stadium
The Chico Rooks will look to turn
their fortunes around as they host the Salinas Valley Samba on Friday night.
Chico is winless in their last three efforts, falling to the Sacramento Knights
3 –1 last week at home before dropping two games on the road the previous week
to the Sonoma Sol and the Redwood City Ruckus.
Last week the Rooks suffered an
early ejection forcing them to play a man down for 65 minutes. The Rooks played
strong battling to a 1 – 1 draw in the first frame. However, eventually the
heat and the player advantage were too much as Chico conceded two late goals to
the Knights.
The Rooks are 1 – 1 – 1 against
the Samba in 2006. Chico downed Salinas 1 –0 at home in early April in their
first match of the season. The Rooks then lost and drew with the Samba in
Salinas by scores of 2 – 1 and 2 – 2.
“Without a doubt this has been a
disappointing and frustrating year for us,” said Rooks coach David Stahl, “we
haven’t played to our potential. We are lot better team than our record would
indicate.” Stahl went on to add that both injuries and ejections have had a
major impact on the teams overall performance this season.
The Rooks will kick off against
the Samba at 7:30 at the soccer stadium on the Chico State campus. On Sunday,
Chico travel to Sacramento to face the Knights at Consumes River College at
6:00.
