ROOKS PLAY HOME AND AWAY
THIS WEEKEND
Play in San Jose Friday and Chico on
Saturday
The Chico Rooks
will play back to back games again this weekend when they travel to San Jose to
play the Frogs on Friday night and then return to Chico to host the Redwood City
Ruckus on Saturday. The game on Friday night against the Frogs is a make-up
game that was originally scheduled for Sunday, May 21st but was rescheduled
because both teams were in Seattle for the US Open Cup.
Last weekend
Chico fell to the Samba in Salinas by a score of 2 – 1 on Saturday night and
then battled the Frogs to a 2 – 2 draw on Sunday afternoon. In Sundays match
the Rooks were forced to play 60 minutes with ten players after Ramiro Piceno
was ejected on a controversial second caution. Earlier in the season the Rooks
and the Frogs also fought to a 1- 1 draw in Chico.
This season
Chico has bettered the Ruckus in both of their matches with the Redwood City
team. In mid April Chico nettted two second half goals to overcome a 1 – 0
halftime deficit and secure a 2- 1 victory. In late April the Rooks crushed
the Ruckus 6- 1 in Hayward.
The game on
Friday night will kick off at 7:30 at PAL Stadium in San Jose. On Saturday
night Chico will face off against the Ruckus at 7:30 at the soccer stadium on
the Chico State campus.
