ROOKS PREPARE FOR TWO GAME
ROAD TRIP
To Play Samba Saturday and Ruckus Sunday
The Chico Rooks will be taking
their first road trip of the 2006 National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) season
as they travel to Salinas to play the Samba on Saturday night and then on to
Redwood City to face the Ruckus on Sunday afternoon.
The Rooks are currently tied for
second place in the NPSL North West Conference with the Sacramento Knights with
a 2 0 1 record (7 points). Sonoma is atop the table at 3 - 1 0 (9
points). Last week Chico battled the San Jose Frogs to a 1 1 draw after
dominating play throughout most of the match only to concede the equalizer in
the final minutes of the match.
In their first game of the 2006
NPSL campaign the Rooks narrowly edged the Salinas Valley Samba by a score of
1-0 in Chico. Forward Keith Ratzburg netted the lone goal of the match. Two
weeks ago after a poor first half performance Chico was able to regroup in the
second period, despite being a player down due to a 1st half
ejection, and score two goals for a come-from-behind 2 1 victory.
This weekend will be a good
indicator of where we are as a team, said Rooks head coach David Stahl, we
have three games under our belt and have faced both these opponents before.
The Rooks will play at Salinas
High School on Saturday night at 7:30 and Chabot Community College on Sunday
afternoon at 3:00. The Rooks will return home to host the Sonoma County Sol on
Friday, May 5th at 7:30 at the soccer stadium on the Chico State
campus.
