ROOKS HOST RUCKUS FRIDAY NIGHT
At University Stadium
The Chico Rooks (1 0) will look to win
their second game of the season on Friday as they host the Redwood City Ruckus
(0 1). At press time, both the location of the game and the time were not yet
confirmed due to the wet weather conditions. If the University determines the
soccer stadium on the Chico State campus is playable, the game will kick off at
7:30. Should the University close the stadium the game will be played at Don
Heffren Field at 20th Street Park at 5:30.
It will be the
first meeting between the two Northern California soccer clubs as the Ruckus are
a 2006 National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) expansion team. The Rooks kicked
off the 2006 NPSL regular season last week as they edged the Salinas Valley
Samba by a score of 1 0 in a hard fought physical game. Keith Ratzburg
netted the lone goal and game winner in the 4th minute on an assist from Calum
Robertson. Goalkeeper Nick Clark was named player of the match as he tallied 10
saves and the shutout for Chico.
Last weekend
the Ruckus fell 4- 0 to the San Jose Frogs (1 0), also a 2006 expansion
team, in the inaugural game for both teams. We dont want to read to much into
last weeks results because there are a lot more variables that determine the
outcomes of games at the start of the season, said Rooks head coach David Stahl.
If the game is
played at Don Heffren Field at 20th Street Park kick-off will be at 5:30. No
admission will be charged. If the game is played at the Soccer Stadium on the
Chico State campus kick-off will be at 7:30. Admission is $6.00 for adults and
$3.00 for youths under 16 years of age.
